Electronics
We are simply able to sense and detect more phenomena than our ancestors. This extra feedback that our conscious and possibly subconscious can pick up on allows for more rapid insight. One can run down a path faster at night with flashlight technology.
I would like to explore what I can see with heart rate monitors and the consumer grade EEGs now available.
I haven’t read it yet, but I have heard that the author of the book “High Tech High Touch” may be onto something.
8. See
Welcome the weirdness for split second, or an hour…it doesn’t matter. You detect firmness, lucidity, clarity, shine, sharpness, stillness, peace and an entire realm right where you sit. Regular reality, and the obvious stories that it is comprises of, lose significance. As you may notice agitation coming from other sentient consciousnesses like animals or sit partners. Don’t let this distract. See. There is nothing to do here. It is what it is and you won’t figure out this curiosity at the moment. Hold-fast your stillness and hang as long as possible.
Maybe this is connection with source? Don’t ask me, go experience it. We won’t talk about it. Words don’t work.
7. Sync
With agitation behind you and in deep surrender you’re barely a thought in ultimate stillness. Now, vibe with the still space you occupy. You are as completely still as it. Though we know today, nothing is still. It all vibrates. So sync with this stillness and know at higher frequencies you may be in tune with it. Lock in with this reality.
6. Sink
Relax the body and mind. Let it sink. Belly breathe. Sink deeper and deeper. Let go of body while maintaining one thing, smooth breathing posture which seems to become more automatic with practice.
5. Surrender
Surrender your ego, thoughts, curiosities, focuses and everything else…give away your entire being to the sit session! There is nothing more important that this effort. Nothing else matters. The ego owns nothing. Surrender. Surrender. Surrender. Mantra this.
4. Sit
Returning to the source is stillness. It is returning to one’s fate.
~Tao Te Ching chapter 16
Now just sit still, very still. The Zen tradition places a great deal of importance in their Zazen sitting. I think I am starting to understand why. Stillness is key. Removal of distraction and agitation is key. Focus is key. Discipline is key. Dedication and devotion to the effort is key. Stillness is key.
- I am Situated in life for this.
- I have built my Setting.
- I have Selected to do this.
Nothing else matters. Nothing is more important than this sit. There is nothing to do. There is nothing to repair, fix or design. There are no plans. Thoughts have no value.
I may experiment with counting the moments when the mind deviates, for performance measurement and goal setting. I can log and track the quality of my concentration over time.
3. Select
“Selection” is about the recognition of a step that is dedicated to “putting emphasis on the act of CHOOSING & DECLARING the target”…so nature honors it.
Declare The Destination
One must relentlessly select the outcome that is out there already in existence awaiting coalescence…and then Select to surrender this eco-centric attachment to the greater author. I let go and trust the outcome is still in harmony with me.
Why, should I believe that? I put trust in that my exterior daily behavior like vision boards, language selection, people, places, events, practices, for example; they all help Situate my deep branding in common reality. I believe in the character. This character that I have built is carried in me beyond my detection, subconsciously in my journey.
I visualize/expect/know/live and own the outcome and get drawn to it.
I live and carry this ownership with me all the way to the very instance of mediation time, and not into it the deep mediation itself. Otherwise, it is a more shallow visualization or pondering practice. I must purge the mind of all these selfish attachments in order to meditate on one-or-less thing and go deeper than this baggage can Sink.
Did I Situate my vibe/brand enough into my nature enough that I believe there will automatic link to the outcome state to me, without ego’s attention? If so, now release this distracting attachment so I can execute purely on ego-less meditation that syncs you to be seen and acknowledged by a greater creator than you.
Final Selection Of The Physical Practice
How will I select to focus? Bowl, nose, breathing, sound, etc…? Eyes closed? Eyes open?
I select the emotional feeling of experiencing of the future objective in common reality so that greater phenomena finds me, or that something with me finds it?
I Select the mode and relentlessly sit still…
